K x | The Mendips offer numerous walks and are relatively easy to reach even by public transport from Bristol. The Charterhouse and Priddy Lead mines are great spots, also Ebbor Gorge. Many footpaths are well marked and it's quite easy to plan walks over the Mendips using OS maps.
Blaise Castle of course is good, though, often too many people at weekends, however few venture up on to Long Weston Hill. Also if you have transport, the Cotswold Way offers numerous short stretches of brilliant walking - it starts in Bath but it's easy to pick up at many points northward. There are also walks along the Severn esturary that you can pick up at Severn Beach (has it's own peculiar charm) Portishead and Clevedon.
