| | | My week in the Llyn Peninsula Hi guys!
Well, as some of you may know we’ve just come back from a week on the Lleyn (or Llyn) Peninsula in North Wales. It was a part of Wales we hadn’t explored and the cold and, sometimes, gale force winds didn’t deter us!
Rather than putting some pics in the ‘Where did you walk today’ thread I thought I’d put them all together here. I’ll keep it down to 3 walks, my favourites, hope you like them too!
Our first outing was to Traeth Penlleth on the north coast west of Nefyn. Absolutely stunning, beautiful sands, fascinating rock pools, definitely a good start to the week!
During the middle of the week we visited Park Glynllifon just outside Caernarfon. Miles of country paths, follies & caves home to lesser-horseshoe bats (not that we saw any!)
We also visited the nearby beach at Trefor with it’s small harbour and signs of it’s mining past.
The final day we came upon Porth Ceiriad, we were heading somewhere else but I’m so glad we got lost! Owned by the National Trust it is another stunning sandy beach, south facing so the winds weren’t as bracing. We parked in a car park slightly further away and walked there across the cliffs and down the steep steps to the beach.
We also visited Llanbedrog, Pwllheli, Morfa Nefyn, Nefyn, Aberdaron & Dinas Dinlle (which was very dirty – litter absolutely everywhere )
A large number of birds to be named but the best being buzzards everywhere, sat on fence posts just feet away. And I think we may have seen choughs; I’m not 100% certain but they were either choughs flying and swooping over the grassy cliffs or they were carrion crows with sore throats! I don’t think I’ll ever know for sure! I’d definitely recommend the area to anyone!

I'd avoid the height of the summer tho, apparently it gets busy and you can see why! Quote:

I used to visit the Lleyn peninsula when I was a boy (we had relatives in Abersoch), it's certainly a very beautiful area. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
