| | | RFI - Best Kent Woodland Hi WABers,
This spring, I want to spend some time in the woods! I'm keen to get a siting of lesser spotted woodpecker, marsh and willow tit, some of the more unusual finches, and possibly nightjar where habitat is favourable.
I've been looking into the Blean woods and Tudley woods RSPB reserves, can anyone give any advice on the best areas or alternative woodland nearby?
Thanks in advance

| | | Re: RFI - Best Kent Woodland Ive been to blean woods (well the apart indicated on the link below) which is joint managed by the kent wildlife trust and the woodland trust, not just the RSPB as they seem to suggest. The RSPB: Blean Woods
Its great for wood ants and Ive seen common lizards there. heath flitteries are meant to be present but I dont thi nk Ive been there at the right time of year. Bird wise i think nightjars and nightingales occur (although it maybe a bit early).
The biggest problem (as with most plces near built up areas) is its a big dog walking spot and although there is a desiganted dog walking path, many ignore it and use the walkers only paths Also people bomb along on mountain bikes some days.
Ive not made it to the other blean woods areas yet though |

How do you access East Blean Woods?

Haven't seen them myself yet but I'm reliably informed that there are lesser spotted woodpeckers nesting at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve which is another KWT site.
