| | | Green, green grass of home! We left the car at home this weekend and walked some of the many lanes and fields around our village.
As you can see our fields are now green and the only snow visible is on the distant Pennines.(pic 3)
Fieldfares were abundant easily spotted by their constant chatter and grey rumps amongst the Redwings in the first field we came to.
What was nice were the amount of House Sparrows cheeping from the hedgerows while Dunnock and Wren skulked beneath.....the Dunnocks were singing beautifully.
Yellowhammers too were everywhere a lovely splash of colour in the morning sunshine.
Flocks of Tits appeared and flitted across our paths at regular intervals and Jays and Magpies were present too!
Nowt special but a nice walk in the winter sunshine! |

I agree, if you have a little bit of wildness or ponds near you, you just need to keep visiting, at all times of year and enjoy.
A local walk near our river, just got back, saw first pair of Lapwing(hurrah), goosander, Dipper, Moorhens, Mallard, Heron and peregrine, besides tits, dunnock etc - not bad!
Cheers
Ken
