| | | Re: Where to go in West Dorset? Have you had a look around the Dorset Wildlife Trust website, there's some interesting info there. There was another site which said that there have been red kite sitings in Melpash. Hope you have a good morning and the weather has improved by then! |

Originally Posted by LynM Would love to hear how you get on, Perry. Perhaps an update on this thread when you've been? | As promised I got my morning pass and followed the footpaths along the river Lim from Uplyme to Lyme Regis and from there walked to the end of the Cob.
The first part of the footpath took me along a wooded area between gardens where there were plenty of woodland species present, blue, great and long-tailed tits, goldcrest (heard) song thrush, black bird, wren, robin, woodpigeon and jackdaw. I then found a nice spot looking down onto river with a good view between trees an shrubs, the river was shallow and stoney and looked ideal for dipper - within 5 minutes one put in a brief appearance! I followed the river downstream for about 30 yds or so and caught up with it again rooting around under the water and stones for insects. It gave good views for 10 mintues or so before it tucked itself away out if sight. Excellent tick!
I carried on into Lyme Regis adding grey wagtail to the list and then continued onto the cob where I picked up pied wagtail, rock pipit and purple sandpiper along with cormorant and black headed, herring and great black backed gulls.
A really nice walk and some excellent birds seen. To top things off as I type this I'm watching a male and femail siskin on my garden feeders - a garden tick!
Thanks to all on the forum for their advice.

| | | Re: Where to go in West Dorset? Excellent news! I'm glad that the Dipper played ball for you and you saw a good selection of other birds too. I trust that the rest of your break in the area was enjoyable too. Thanks for getting back to us. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
