| | | Langstone Harbour Yesterday was very misty and cold . Took my dog out for a walk thinking that it would not be worth taking the camera because it was so dull. Glad I did as I saw the promise of what was to come for the afternoon

The photo was taken at Southmoor which is on the east side of the harbour. The actual location is locally called the mound off Southmoor Lane and adjacent to Budds Farm Water Treatment Plant. The mound is a very old rubbish tip that has long since been out of use as such and has been landscaped to form a hill about 50 ft tall alongside the harbour.
For anyone wanting to photograph wildlife, this is a very good alternative spot to Farlington Marshes. Although it is a dog walking area, the wildlife seem to have got used to the passage of people and animals which can be a very big plus.

Farlington Marshes is best visited at high tide when all the waders use it as a roost until the tide changes. In the summer months, Southmoor is a great spot to watch the Terns fishing and don't forget Budds Farm Water treatment Plant lake. It is no longer used in the process but is a refuge for many bird types.
