Very nice photos, Ruth - thanks for sharing! Dumfries and Galloway is a very nice area, I had a very pleasant holiday there about 10 years ago. |

There are some wonderful moody winter scenes there Ruth .
You really should try and get to the northern Highlands in winter as well. Don't worry about the weather .... if there is snow and frost it really is a winter wonderland and in my experience the roads are always well gritted and ploughed if necessary.

Having seen the Highlands in the middle of a heatwave I would love to see the winter beauty too Richard.I wouldn't have any worries about the roads as we noticed that they were gritted a lot more than ours here.....and we live above the rocksalt mines!!!  |

Yes it was very cold.....especially sat in bird hides but we were well prepared (I can recommend long legged thermal knickers that tuck into your socks!!! lol!!). | | | |
