| | | Shropshire countryside Hi guys my dad took me to see my grandparents the other day down in the Stiperstones and we went through the farmlands of Shropshire and i was truly astonished to see how many beautiful fields and hills there were right on my door step (literally about an hour away on foot from me) Also i got a glimpse of the ox bow in the river seven and it look amazingly similar to a tropical river marsh or something. It made me wonder have any of you got beautiful countryside near you? My father said that Shropshire is one of the gems of the UK. |

| | | Re: Shropshire countryside I worked for a short time (all too short) at Stedment farm at Ratlinghope, and travelled over to the Bog twice a day to feed up and look the cattle. When I moved on, I cried (quietly and to myself, I am not a great sobber). It is a beautiful place. I drove to work from Shrewsbury every day and I felt so lucky to have the chance to do this. I worked harder than I ever had done, but it was (almost) always great.
Don't go there, you will only make it crowded. |

| | | Re: Shropshire countryside It's quite a long time ago when I was there, the Stiperstones always had quite a few walkers, get over to the Bog and it is very quiet. I remember going with the family to Corndon, Dad had had a couple of beers and a pub lunch, the sun was hot and I am afraid we encouraged our very young kids to fill his ears with bilberries whilst he slept. |

| | | Re: Shropshire countryside Hi, I haven`t walked on the Stipperstones yet, but close to them is one of our favourite haunts, the Long Mynd. When you walk away from the main car park at Carding Mill Valley (where most people stop!) you could be anywhere. Fantastic views & great for Peacock butterflies

Pam | Hmm, remember coming down the Portway by Long Ashes in the Landrover with a cow trailer on the back and discovering the brakes were not up to it. A little scrubbing up against the hilside verge got things under control, but my little heart was going pit-a-pat! |

| | | Re: Shropshire countryside I've done a bit of walking on the Long Mynd and really enjoyed it. There is also Caer Caradoc nearby, which looks an absolute cracker. I really want to climb that one day.
My favourite landscape is the Pennines. I grew up and still live on the edge of them and I just love walking the moors on my own. I also love the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Such wonderful mountains, like Sgurr Nan Gillean and Liathach. Scottish wildlife takes a lot of beating as well.
Regards, Chris
