I'm also fascinated on part 2- that perhaps the 4 corner stones where possibly erected inside the burial chambers at a later date!

I like the way they designed their houses, with the passages in between.  | It's a great p[lace and they even had a sewage system tunning between the houses  I used to live in Orkney btw and it's got the highest concentration of Neolithic sites in Europe - not only that but really good ones too  The lighting is very special and the wildlife fantastic - if you've never been I suggest you go and visit! The people are very friendly too |

| | | Re: Maeshowe and the Winter Solstice. Ohh, I can't believe I've missed the winter solstice this year  Usually observe it religiously, so was hoping that it may have fallen on the 22nd this year, but no, it was the 21st. Seem to have had so much going on, I'd lost track of all time and space!
I guess that webcam will still be up and running tomorrow though, will it?
