| | | What's that in The Wash? Hi All,
Just been wandering around The Wash on a Google Earth map on Rare Bird Alert, when I noticed a blob in the southern area. Zoomed in and it is a perfectly circular feature, so presumably it's man-made, yet it looks like an aerial view of a volcano but with an obvious circular line within the feature.
Just looked again and it appears to be a mound that is centrally depressed
Grid Ref: TF 51195 29526
Anyone know what it is?
Cheers,
Adam

| | | Re: What's that in The Wash? I believe it's a structure built in the seventies as a trial freshwater reservoir.
Edit - here we go - interesting structure: http://www.bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire/co..._feature.shtml

| | | Re: What's that in The Wash? Yes I've just had a look at it Adam. Perfectly circular, looks like a concrete structure, that has turned green over time, a depressed centre that appears filled with some sort of muddy deposit. Weird! Perhaps some sort of disused wartime fortification?
Tracy Island?
UFO launchpad?
Sea folly?

| | | Re: What's that in The Wash? Looking at the OS map, it appears exactly as your description, but with water in the centre. There is another one in 5427, a bit smaller. No idea what it is at this time!
Thanks for that Hedge Witch....you were all busy replying while I was searching my map.....!
