Thanks for taking me along with you through your post. I didn't realise how much wildlife there is in Scotland. | Thanks again to RobinP (have you survived the worktop incident?) Colincurry and snowdrop: I've never had brilliant health but it just makes me more determined to do what I want to

The western Isles truly are a haven for some of the countries most stunning scenery & wildlife, which you capture perfectly...
Is it any wonder it's a part of Scotland I would love to live in... |

| | | Re: Pauline Western Isles Odeyssey 2008.... Part Two! Nice one Pauline You were on South Uist the same time as me. I arrived on Berneray from Lewis and Harris on 3rd of July, and worked my way down to Barra via a 3 night stop at Howmore You saw much more wildlife than I, but that is probably due to my trip being done entirely on public transport. You cant really ask the bus driver to stop just because you thought you saw a sundew in the ditch half a mile back The Western Isles are a top place to visit. Glad you had a good one. Charlie.

Is it any wonder it's a part of Scotland I would love to live in... | Yes so would I - but I suspect that winters will be long, dark and not much wildlife - but maybe the peace and freedom is a good trade-off - I would like to try it for 12 months and then see how I felt as I also suspect I would miss Silverdale and the English Lakes........... Love your avatar Charlie - bet we passed each other - if you remember a red and white topped VW campervan (slamming to a halt every few mins!) that was us! You need to go out with your own transport so you can stop whenever you want - and explore off the major route! You might be surprised by the way about bus drivers stopping - the Hebrideans are a very ammenable people and they do like to show you their islands!
Now I promised a shot or two showing Davy Crockets best side............ (time to get my own back methinks?!) I still have a couple more pics to upload but yet again this machine is having a go-slow (bit like me really!!) |

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your account and the accompanying photos. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to share with us - I know how long it takes to put together something like this, especially with a computer that's playing up!
And Congratulations on winning the Birdguides 'Photo of the Week' - very well deserved

Julie | Thanks Julie and Jeff - I'm really pleased that folks have enjoyed the read - and its made a few think about going and seeing it for themselves - even better! As an experience its something to be done once - it won't catch on with everyone (my cousin Angela would go into fits if popped down in the isles - she likes London ....... I would have that reaction if I suddenly found myself in the Metropolis ) For some the isles will be too wild, too lonely - for others who revel in being alone and the further alone the better (like me) will love it - in fact its nowhere near as lonely as it used to be....
Yes Jeff - it actually took two whole weeks but that is partly due to the strange antics of my computer - it took 50+ tries to upload a photo yesterday - sometimes if I can get up at 3am when few members are active?! then it might take pics up faster - but even then not neccessarily
