| | Anyone from the Lothians? I have recently moved in to the Linlithgow area (West Lothian Scotland)
Is there anyone on here, from my neck of the woods?
I adore Raptors, especially Buzzards and would like to know if there are any likeminded folks out there I can exchange info with.
Brightest Blessings

| | | re: Anyone from the Lothians? hi there ,octoberustica, used to stay in linlithgow bridge, before i moved to the highlands about thirty years since, so i know the village you stay in,very rural. the loch is extremely good for most wild fowl ,especially the grebes. on the farmland around it are good for lapwing, pheasant and raptors .not far away is the bathgate hills which is good for moorland birds....so you have a great mix of habitat.hope you enjoy staying there, thats where i started my interest in nature ....ah! to be a farmers boy once more!!

| | | Re: Anyone from the Lothians? Hello Octoberustica,
There are plenty birdwatchers in the Lothians area ~ I couldn't say how many of them are active on this (WAB) website.
Here's a link to the lothianbirdnews site where there is a "Join This Group!" button on which you can click and register for free. As a member you'll receive e-mails from other members alerting the group to bird sightings, and of course, you can also alert the rest of us when you see something exciting like a Golden Eagle on your bird table! etc. etc. etc.
Here's the link > Yahoo! Groups
(You don't have to live in the Lothians to join, in case anyone else was wondering.)
Here's another link you may want to look at ~ it's the S O C website and it includes a "Where to birdwatch in Scotland" section > The SOC - Scotland's Bird Club
Hope you find something helpful in the above. |

| | Re: Anyone from the Lothians? WOW thanks for all of the lovely posts...your all very kind.
So far I have seen mainly common buzzards and a few honey buzzards.
No Eagles YET
was wondering around Linlithgow today as the weather was amazing, I always have my eyes peeled.

| | | Re: Anyone from the Lothians? Hi I'm from West Lothian and spend quite a bit of time at Linlithgow Loch and surrounding areas.
Buzzards are regularly seen on the North/East side of the loch, at Kinneil Kerse Bo'ness and at Beecraigs. There is no shortage of buzzards, sparrow hawks and kestrels around these areas however getting a decent shot is another matter.
