| | | Re: Whitby/Staithes I like Whitby a lot, the lake by the Abbey can be a day out on its own
Staithes is an old fishing village that was/is popular with artists including some famous ones The Staithes Group of artists
The yearly cycle of wildlife in the area really needs local knowledge as a two week visit relies too much on luck

| | | Re: Whitby/Staithes I prefer them both in winter for a quieter experience. Check out Runswick Bay too, that has plenty of charm, as does my favourite of the lot, Robin Hood's Bay.

| | | Re: Whitby/Staithes I live afew miles down the coast and the wildlife is very rich, along the coast the shoreline is very good, the Northyork moors inland is well worth a visit.
