| | | Re: Best Nature Reserves? Bit of a cliche - but it's always the one that I'm visiting at the time.
When considering the alternatives of participating in the daily grind of the rat race, any wildlife, (and even better, wild flower) rich little corner of this green and mostly pleasant land rates as the best.
Must admit though, I do have a soft spot for the Warton Crag area - even though you can see Heysham power station from it!

| | | Re: Best Nature Reserves? The rspb reserve in lake vyrnwy is one of my favourites, with its beautiful man made pump house, almost like a tower from a fairy tale. The lake is surrounded by mixed hardwoods and soft woods. In the summer there always chance to spot red starts, pied flycatchers, kingfishers, grebes, coots, buzzards, and sometimes a chance of spotting a red kite if your lucky, further up on the high ground it opens up in to moorland were red grouse can be spotted,or perhaps ravens and skylarks doing there spiral flight down to the ground. Also there is the rspb reserve on the mawddach estuary again well worth a visit anytime of the year. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
