| | Favourite Country Park? Country parks are so diverse and often offer lots in the way of walking and wildlife etc, but which one offers you the most?
It seems no two are the same and habitat can be so diverse, i.e; Rufford with its lake and woods, Durlston with its downs and cliffs.
So the question is which is your favourite and what does it offer to you?
Mine is Durlston country park, Dorset.
It's wildlife is amazing orchids, Adders, seabirds, peregrines, dragonflies, grasshoppers & crickets including the Great Green Bush Cricket, Deer, Butterflies, honestly the list goes on but it also offers great sea views (with a chance sighting of a dolphin or 2) and a few minutes escapism from daily life, bliss.

| | | Re: Favourite Country Park? Well, the country park I probably visit the most, is Hollingworth Lake in the South Pennines. However it is a dump really and very badly managed for wildlife.

| | | Re: Favourite Country Park? Seven Sisters Country Park in East Sussex. It's a very picturesque mixture of coastal habitats and chalk Downland. Lots of wildlife - especially a wide variety of wild flowers.

| | | Re: Favourite Country Park? The one we use the Most is Emberton Country Park. We go there as much as we can between easter and November.. We have a static caravan there I feel really lucky.. The wildlife is amazing from the Herons and Kingfishers to many species of Dragonflies. It covers 200 acres and is also open to the Public.. well worth a visit if you are near Milton Keynes.. You can camp there or go for a day out..

| | | Re: Favourite Country Park? Bedfont Lakes Country Park, near Feltham in Hounslow. It's where I work.
We have a range of habitats home to over 300 plant species, 150+ birds, 240+ moths and that's just for starters. We have the largest known breeding site for Goat Moths in London (there's only one other apparently), wintering Bittern and Smew, and Cetti's Warbler, 40 known UKBAP priority species, the largest natural reedbed in western London with 50-60 pairs of Reed Warbler, and we are the only site ever to have been awarded the London in Bloom Wildflower and Environment Trophy twice. Come and see what you've been missing.
Cheers

| | | Re: Favourite Country Park? I have fond memories of Kynpersley Country Park, just to the north east of Stoke on Trent, though I moved on many years ago. Although its only a stone's throw from some pretty grotty bits of Stoke you've left the town behind and the park is set around tranquil reservoirs and woods. Nuthatch, woodpeckers, pied flycatchers, g c grebe, kingfisher, dippers, Fly Agaric, stinkhorns, gritstone outcrops, fabulous autumn colours, and some interesting local history too. You're also close to the source of the Trent. |

| | | Re: Favourite Country Park? My favourite country park is the Snowdonia National Park here in North Wales. We live just on the border, right by the sea, surrounded by gorgeous countryside. This area offers a vast variety of nature walks, stolls on the beaches and visits to castles, of which there are many in North Wales. The scenery is just fantastic, especially the sunsets on the beach. My sister-in-law has a holiday let here, where dog owners and their pets are most welcome too. Please contact me, if you would like more information.
