| | | Where in the North East? I'm going to be working in the north east for a few days in April (anywhere between Thirsk and Newcastle). As it's not an area I would normally get to, I obviously want to get a bit of birding in as well.
Are there any must see places at that time of year that anyone can recommend?

| | | Re: Where in the North East? You 'must' go to Upper Teesdale, around Langdon Beck to be precise. Black Grouse can be virtually guaranteed here, as well as other classic upland species, especially waders on territory. The botany is outstanding too, as is the scenery. The place is magic and I love it.
