| | | Re: Sussex Tilgate Park in Crawley is a good place to visit, only £2 odd for parking and no entrance fee. You may get some good bird life on the lake at this time of year and there should be plenty of autumn colour to photograph. If you have children they will love it there too. |

| | | Re: Sussex I quite like Sheffield Park Garden or, if you want somewhere a little wilder and less cultivated and you don't mind crossing the border into Surrey, then Winkworth Arboretum is well worth a visit.

| | | Re: Sussex I've been up early recently and having to drive through the woods around Milland, Iping, Chithurst, Borden Wood. Not sure if it's photographer's stuff but I've NEVER seen so many Badgers. Up to 3 in quick succession ambling along the little narrow lanes. Quite tame some of them. Lots of foxes too but they're off pretty pronto . Except one which ran along in front of my car at , I guess 15-20 mph or so for a good half mile before deciding life would be a lot less hassle if he were to veer off and go into the hedge instead! Remarkable.
If you're interested in Sussex do you know about the latest on the South Downs proposed National Park? The park is a great idea, but sadly they've decided to exclude nearly 40% of the original area: all the wonderful Western Weald and the Northern Hangers in my bit over in NE Hampshire. Find out about more with some links if you want to voice an opinion to relevant politicians at Alice Holt Forest Hampshire - Home Page |

| | | Re: Sussex 100s of brent geese (both types), Waders, ducks, small birds (stonechats etc) and sea birds. I saw two spoonbills a couple of winters back there and theres usually some bop around, even if its often just a kestrel or two. Its in the north end of RSPB langstone harbour, alough the reserve itself i believe is run my hampshire wildlife trust |

| | | Re: Sussex Try Cuckmere Haven. It's very beautiful and is excellent for birds. Sunday afternoons are very busy though - avoid!
From Exceat you can walk up the river to Littlington (good pub for lunch!) and then walk back through Friston Forest. Wildlife really good at this time of year. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
