| | | Dartmoor - places to visit Hi
Myself and some friends are due to stay in a cottage just off dartmoor in a few weeks and as 2 of us are keen nature photographers I would be grateful if anyone could recommend good locations to take the cameras out to, we're quiet happy to do V early mornings and evenings to get some good pics... just would like to get some ideas of good places to go!
Thanks |

| | | Re: Dartmoor - places to visit Am hoping to go home on 10th Sept, I really miss being able to get in car 10 min drive and be on the moors.. There are so many great places to go to get good photo's.. A good place to go to ask people in the know is princetown to the Tourist information office... a lot of the wardens are based there and will only be to glad to help you.... They also do brilliant gudied walks if your interested.
I just have to find a cheap cottage to rent for 5 days as unsure what the weather is going to be like for camping especially as will have my Two longhaired Alsatians with me.. ane wet Dogs aint a nice smell when confined to a tent
But am looking forward to some nice long walks

| | | Re: Dartmoor - places to visit Wow thanks for the responses.....
We're staying in a cottage just outside Tavistock so the keen ones among us can can do some early morning wildlife photography but we can do "days out" during the day as well, my son age 3 is mad on fish so the national marine aquarium will be a definite stop!
At the moment myself and my photography buddy have been pretty hooked on deer.... we are lucky in having a few reliable locations locally.... however good places to photograph them down on dartmoor would be great. Apart from that pretty much anything.... LOL anything that moves or not I photograph..... I have an addiction! |

| | | Re: Dartmoor - places to visit If Your going to be in Tavistock then you have to walk along Tavistock Canal.. It is famous for its Butterflies, Dragonflies and also its fauna that grows along the banks.
Also try walking along.
Also take a boat trip down the Tamar for a great photographing session of its Bird life. They do special bird watching Boat trips at certain times. But just a normal boat trip gives you many oppertunities for some great photo's.
Capel Tor near Horsebridge is great for seeing Bats and Moths in the evenings.. There are aslo guided walks at various times if you prefer.. apparently you can watch the bats swooping down onto the river.
Also Burrator Reservoir is a fantastic place to go walking and take Photo's you never know what you will see there..
Plymouth Aquarium is great, and you can also get boat for river trip down Tamar about 2 mins from the Aquarium... A good trip is the one that stops in Calstock..
Hope this helps... I know you will have a great Holiday
