I did end up going and its mainly parrots and macaws(not all in cages)some are free to fly around even without netting above.
Oh and a couple of owls!
There are some fantastic coloured birds there.

| | | Re: Tropicalbird land Sounds like Paradise Park in Hayle Cornwall. That's a tropical birders paradise!
I'll put the Leicester park on my list ( I've found it on the map). When I have short breaks, I like to have a stopping place of interest on the way there ( and back). I'll try and fit it in one day, especially as you mention the Owls.

Keith. | If you like owls The World Owl Trust is at Muncaster Castle in Cumbria - seeing as you are heading that way! There are over 100 owls there of many species. At 2pm everyday its "meet the birds" and there is a display and talk about the work they do. There are also other birds of prey at this display which for various reasons can't be reintroduced to the wild.
At 4pm they feed the wild herons which flock in for their daily treat. To see the owls, you don't have to pay to get into the castle, you can just pay for the grounds |

On a separate note; If anyone has the chance to go there in May, then the Azealeas and Rhodos will be in bloom. They claim to have the largest collection in Europe. Some are like trees !

Off to the Lake District tomorrow to find a better class of rain. And Muncaster Castle where they've got plenty of Owls.

| | | Re: Tropicalbird land two other locations that are good for captive owls (and other raptors) are the englsish school of falconry at shuttleworth beds - they have flight displays , many tethered birds and a walk through barn full of barn owls, and the cotswold falconry centre at moreton in the marsh
the latter is on the same site as batsford arboretum which has the national acer collection so it is good to visit here in the autumn.
this was taken during a flight display at shuttleworth

| | | Re: Tropicalbird land Thanks. Batsford Park is one of my favourites.
I thought Shuttleworth was for tuition only. Is this not the case?
