Anyone on this forum from near the New Forest area
I am thinking about a camping holiday down that way later in the year if the weather ever gets better!

Can anyone recomend a good camp site?
Can anyone recomend some good sites to visit for Birds, Butterflies and Dragonflies

i used to go alot and my family has been alot. i'll get back to you, although i think a lot of sites are expensive nowadays...

I camped at Ashurst a while back-well appointed but nothing special unless you like over-friendly ponies trying to nick your bacon butties in the morning. There was another site by the Ocknell inclosure north of the A31 which I would recommend, saw a sparrowhawk take a great tit just outside the tent & also the lovely Carabus nitens (see link) there amongst lots of good walks. At the right time of year in the Forest there's also Honey Buzzards, Nightjars & Montagu's Harrier to look out for along with a whole host of rare insect & plant life. Fantastic place.
