| | | skye sunsets I've just startedsorting out my photos from my skye trip ( I have over two thousand so i havent been through them all yet ) one thingthat stood out from the week was the number and intensity of the sunsets and the images below give you a little taste of what they would like
i would emphasise that apart from croping and removing dust spots these arent manipulated in anyway - the sky colours are as observed.

| | | Re: skye sunsets yep the sunsets were well worth the 625 mile (each way) drive
two more
this one came about through breaking the major rule - ie dont point your 500mm lens straight at the sun - I hadnt taken leave of my senses however , it was composed through trial and error looking at the lcd , I wasnt looking through the view finder at the time
I'm quite happy with the weird diffraction of the sun as it enters the haze - those are the dockyard cranes on harrris which are silhouetted btw
and this one came with a major dollop of luck - shooting with both eyes open I noticed the bird flying towards the reflected sunlight and hit the shutter just right - burst mode is a good thing

coming back i drove down overnight stopping for a kip in the car at greystoke near carlisle for a few hours (12 hours driving not counting the 4 hours kip)
mind you i drive a lot in my job so 400 miles in a day is nowt special really

| | | Re: skye sunsets Fantastic photos, Pete. We are probably going to Skye next year - looking forward to it after seeing these. We would fly. It's too far to drive from here.

| | | Re: skye sunsets You were lucky to see the sun eeyore, all it did was rain on me in Skye. I only had a few hours there though and I hope to go back for a longer trip sometime.

I think that the best sunsets in the UK can be experienced off the west coast of Scotland .... I am hoping for more of the same in a few weeks time when I am up there.
