| | | Guillimot coverd in oil I found this distressed little guillemot today trying to come ashore for help but dogs just kept chasing it back in to the sea
I came home and contacted the RSPB who got straight back to me with the direct contact to the RSPCA . I managed to get through very quickly they were very concerned and they are sending an inspector out now to try and find it.
I told them where I had seen it and which way the current was taking it. I did the best I could for it I hope they find it before e it drowns. I’m feeling so sad. |

| | | Re: Guillimot coverd in oil That is really sad, Beryl.
And horrible to watch dogs chasing it too.
Let's hope that, because of your efforts, someone with the skills to treat it will have found it by now. I have always found the RSPCA to be extremely quick and efficient in their responses.
You must just think now that you have done your very best, and you must delete the picture or not look at it any more, because you have done everything you could, and you must not spend the whole evening thinking about it and worrying. That will not do any good. You are a very kind and caring person, and the guillemot was lucky that you were there to send help to it.

| | | Re: Guillimot coverd in oil these birds covered in oil really do make a pitiful sight don't they. I would find it quite upsetting to see a bird in such obvious distress. You did the right thing though Beryl, with a bit of luck the RSPCA will have found it and will be able to help it.

| | | Re: Guillimot coverd in oil Hello Beryl
I totally agree with everyone else, thanks to you that little Guillimot now has the best chance of survival and get the help it needs.
It makes me very sad to think of all those poor birds and if you have helped to save just one then I think you're a star. ( And a very kind one at that ) |

| | | Re: Guillimot coverd in oil Thank you evey one. I know the RSPCA would have been quick to act and both the RSPB and the RSPCA were very pleased to receive my report so I do feel a bit better.
Seeing it on TV you think ah thank goodnes they are being washed and they look content but when you are stranding almost beside one in distress well you have to act on it and it does bring tears to your eyes. I'm sure in my mind they found him |

| | | Re: Guillimot coverd in oil I would just also add that sometimes it's good to contact local wildlife rescue as they can often act more rapidly than the RSPCA who sometimes have an awful lot on thier plate. |

| | | Re: Guillimot coverd in oil I agree with you all the way there Gill but on this occasion I was given the phone number of the section of the RSPCA dealing with this particular incedent in this area. |

| | | Re: Guillimot coverd in oil Good on ya Beryl, for bringing the plight of this poor little one and others to the publics attention.
It must have been really awful to witness it at first hand, I know it would have broken my heart if I had seen it, it's bad enough reading about it
