Monitor Problems

Hi Guys

I am having problems with my monitor

As you can see every 2 centimetres there is a vertical line which is out of focus.

You can see it on most prominently on

Line 1 'a' in camera 'g' and 'r' in photography

Line 2 'h' in this and 't' in at

Line 5 'a' in that

Line 6 'p' in spideyj and so on.

When I reset the monitor the lines move but are always visible afterwards.

What do you think? Should I send it back?

Re: Monitor Problems

I've read something about "vertical banding" on PC monitors, if you cant resolve this using the monitors sttings then I would be thinking of contacting the supplier and sending it back.

Sorry I can't be more help pal.

Have a look at your T&Cs Boddie. You may be entitled under the guarrentee to the engineer calling on you with a replacement.

Re: Monitor Problems

Nah its from a private firm Beryl. They are only in Derby, so its not too far even if I have to drive over. I have not been happy with the quality of it since I got it. Not a patch on a Dell monitor but it did have rave reviews.

Now I have an excuse to swap it out.

Check the cables to the monitor and also try moving any other cables to things such as speakers, usb and firewire ports, also any other nearby electric aparatus, monitor problems can sometimes have seemingly ilogical causes.

Re: Monitor Problems

Just a thought Have you tried another monitor just to make sure it isnt a graphic card / cable issue ? if another monitor exhibits the same picture try re seating the graphics card, I have seen similar problems before.

you never know

Re: Monitor Problems

I am running 2 monitors and the other is fine. I have tried the leads etc, swapped the outputs, taken the other monitor off, but all to no avail. BOOOOOOOOOOO

Oh. Well tell them you'll pay an extra tanner for a better one.
Hope you get it sorted. It shouldn't cost you though as it is as you say only a couple of months old. Good thing you have a spare.

Re: Monitor Problems

Boddie, that looks exaclty like the symptoms displayed when a TFT monitor is used in a resolution other than its native resolution.

Is it a TFT, and if yes, are you running it in its native resolution?

Top Man

You have given me the gift of sight this new year. This monitor, that I hated only yesterday, is now beautiful. I can look at images on lovely 19 inch with the correct resolution. Fantastic.

Nice one.
