Cabin fever - part 2

Four of us spent today out on the North Norfolk coast. The light wasn't very good for photography but we still had a crackin' day, we saw some nice birds, terrorised a few of the green wellie brigade, and generally had a good laugh.

As requested by Julie(wild woman) here is an image of our group,
fourwings(Steve) - eeyore(Pete) - Boddie(Andrew) - MTR(Mark)

And finally my best image of the day, a Winter Moth, taken on the wall in the gents toilet at Titchwell, not the most natural of settings or the best place to take a camera

Hey. What a great picture. You handsome bunch. Us ladies will treasure that.
Like to have seen you terrorising the green welly brigade. Pork pie hand grenades was it?

Excellent stuff gentlemen. Glad you had a good birding day.

Julie and the gals.

Re: Cabin fever - part 2

Can I just point out that I had nothing to do with this terrorism and that Pete and I were corrupted by some bigger boys.

You would not believe the effort this image took, but you can view it here soon > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmeU78kJXF8

as always please dont bother if easily offended. The bigger boys said some choice words but I think I have whistled them out to save them the embarrassment

Lets just say that they weren't quite prepared for our humour or Boddies car horn, that was a truely classic moment

It was a shame, the light was fantastic on the way down but deteriorated very quickly after we got there, a real pity as we were very close to a flock of Snow Buntings at Holkham gap this afternoon and they would have looked spectacular bathed in sunlight.

Still at least we had a dry day, it didn't rain until about 3:30.

You could have checked the ladies

Toilet blocks are always good places to look for moths as they usually have the lights left on all night, you just get some very funny looks from the other users, especially when you get a camera out!!

I'm sure we'll catch up with you soon Jaki.

Re: Cabin fever - part 2

Now you can see why I like to take photos and not appear in them, that image makes me look like I've got more chins than a Chinese phonebook

Thats a crackin' Curlew pic Pete, and you said they wouldn't turn out!!

given that this was handheld with the little bigma at 500 i am well chuffed with it - it was very underexposed and needed a fair bit of levels , and is also cropped by about half . the other four in the burst are all blurred so this one shows that sometimes it is better to be lucky than good

Yep, I can totally relate to that, I have several images that owe their existance to sheer luck. How did the Snow Bunting images turn out?

not too well , only one is passably sharp and that is very grainy due to the high iso - it will be interesting to see if mark had better luck with the bigma (tho what we really needed was better light or a monster flash

Think we will have to wait until tomorrow to see Marks images, he had other stuff to do tonight when he got home, but he did have two or three that looked quite promising on the lcd on the camera.

Re: Cabin fever - part 2

Glad you are enjoying it Jules, we have a great time when we get together, excellent company and a bit of wildlife photography combined with a flippin' good laugh, I dont think other folk know quite what to make of us but hey, thats their problem

Here are a couple more images from yesterday, this was my first attempt at getting a group image of us all, as you can see it wasn't being taken very seriously plus I'd set the self timer to 4 seconds by mistake so I hadn't got time to get into the image properly.

And an image of the guys in serious photography mode at Titchwell, with Andrew managing to hide behind Pete.

Re: Cabin fever - part 2

Yep I have a video of Steves attempts to get the image but it seems to be taking an age for YOUTUBE to accept it. It is very comical indeed.

We did have top laugh. Nothing too serious where we are concerned.

You can see I just smile and try to behave but am easily led by bigger boys
