Members mug-shots

Just an idea, but now we are all begining introduce ourselves via the "hello" section how about having a members mug-shot gallery?

Its quite possible that from time to time members will be in the same place as each other, say for example at a nature reserve/twitch/ bird fair etc......
and the chance of meeting each other face-to-face will be missed purely because they didn't recognise faces.

I'm sure most of us will already have a photo of ourselves that can be used, and it just takes a little bravery perhaps to send it, I'm quite willing to start the ball rolling with the attached image, and yes it is genuine, not set up, I must spend so much time with the "dragons" that they now view me as part of their landscape & a good perch!

What a good idea as soon as i have made up some emulsion for my photographic plates I will post a shot
meanwhile does that growth hurt fourwings?

Not sure we'd recognise you without the nose-attachment, fourwings!!

How about some WAB merchandise? Hats, t-shirts, badges, etc, so that we can spot other members in the field.

That's what I'd like to see Diane. I'd happily wear a t-shirt or similar declaring that 'I love wildaboutbritain.co.uk' - only cos I do! Hopefully this will be a goer - as a Trustee I am hoping to raise some funds early in the New Year towards WAB, and your idea could generate a bit more. Maybe someone out there has a suitable aritistic bent for a design.

re Mug-shots, I look a bit like Rudolph just now, so it'll have to wait.

Merchandising sounds like a good idea & is generally a good way of raising funds.

Great picture Fourwings and to be honest you look a lot like I thought you would.

I had a look for a pic last night and the closest I got was one taken about 5 years ago. I've always been on the other side of the lens, but I'll get the camera out at the weekend and post one as soon as I can.

Well I keep looking ,all these people with super cameras and lenses yet only 2
portraits.I cannot see myself in a mirror,let alone take my own picture

Aye, funny you should say that, my camera will only take pics of birds and other wildlife! It's allergic to human faces!

Come on girls, I never had you down as shy types. Granted, mine took a bit of editting - I had to get rid of that funny board that says surname, christian name and height, oh and offence but I did not scrub up badly for 'drunk and disorderly'

And I thought that the 20D was the all singing/dancing DSLR, I know its got a self timer so no excuses Helen, get that piccy taken & get it posted.

I've just been looking through my pics and, like Helen's, all mine are of other subjects - well, except for one or two older, not-very-flattering ones!!

Thanks Stuart, so I guess I must be a stereotypical Dragonfly nut, funny really, because I met someone at a reserve for the first time the other week, we had talked on the phone and corresponded via e-mail for months, & they said I was not what they pictured at all, I'm sure they expected to see a middle-aged bearded eco-warrior type

Thats why I thought the mugshots were a good idea, its quite surprising how we build a mental picture of someone, based purely on our own imagination,& more than often they are quite wrong!

I'll take some more pics at the weekend as I don't really think this one looks like me, but then again I guess we all think that about self-potraits.

P.S. The laptop's a PC. The day Macs can get the software manufacturers to make software for them I'll maybe consider making the switch, but until then it's PC all the way.

I've been rumbled, I have been a birder since I was 10 years old, its just that wildlife photography,Dragonflies & entomology have sort of taken over in the last few years.
I have always been a "local patch" birder but I do enjoy trips to the North Norfolk coast.

Still waiting to see those photos, Helen, Pat, Diane, Nightshade!!!!!
