We've just added a 'Winter' crossword to the Wild News section

We're aiming to add lots of crosswords on a regular basis and so we'd like to take this opportunity to invite you to send us your own list of answers and clues on any British wildlife, environment or conservation theme of your choice.

We need about thirty answers and clues for each crossword and you don't have to worry about arranging them to fit a grid as we can do that easily enough from here. You can simply send the list in the following - answer,clue - format i.e.:

apple,A green fruit
carrots,A favourite food for Rabbits?
banana,The most popular fruit in the world

As always, we'll be happy to give you or your organisation full credit as authors of the crossword and it could be a great way of getting people to find out more about your part of Britain, your organisation or a particular wildlife interest.

For example, in addition to puzzles about particular species, seasons etc we'd also gratefully accept puzzles about the Brecon Beacons, Cornwall, The Spey River etc, at all levels from easy to difficult.

Hi there,

I'm new to these forums but must say I'm impressed You seem to have some great ideas. The crosswords will go down a treat here, as long as you don't make them too hard as I think I only have about two brain cells left operating, LOL!!!

Hi Eileen and welcome to the forum

We're glad to see that you like the crossword...not too sure what's more fun, making them or playing them. Anyway, there will be plenty more to come

We'll working on putting together a rating system for the crosswords to give people an idea of how difficult they are and how long they will take to complete etc, together with some links on British wildlife websites where people can find answers to some of the clues.

If you can think of any other features that the crosswords could do with having then just let us know and we'll see what we can do

A very good idea Stuart, slightly different too for Nature forums, so a very welcome change. Though if you stick with it being Nature related questions & answers then all the more good for everyone with an aid to more learning.

The rating is a wonderful idea also, at least you'll have an idea of what members want or need (for the 2 cell ones!) It's alright Stuart, Eilean & I know one another!
