| | | Re: wester ross Standard cod or flattie type set-up will do fine. Bait - both worms and shelfish available on the beach. Again standard something bright and/or spinny for mackerel.
No need to be a master caster, dont waste effort chucking it out to the horizon esp at the rocky bits at either end of the beach a short walk away. It is reasonably deep just out a bit.

I wish I was there. I just love Wester Ross and the rest of the Highlands.
Have a great trip. Enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Sorry, haven't got a clue re: fishing!

A little farther north on the Assynt crofters' estate I asked if I could spin for trout. (Their leaflet says they need more predators to thin out the small ones in the myriad of lochs). All I got was a turned-up nose and "You can fish from the rocks".
Funny coincidence near Gruinard Island - I stopped in a layby and saw a hat bobbing about in the bracken over the wall I wondered what he was doing until he came into full view - it was a birdwatching acquaintance from my home town! Neither of us had known the other was in the area. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
