Gallery Upgrade

The gallery software will be upgraded this afternoon so it may need to be switched off within the next hour or so. If all goes OK (which would be a first ) then the gallery should be switched on again a couple of hours later.

I'm currently backing up the entire site manually so things may run a little bit slower for the next 20 minutes while the zip file is being created.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Like the new gallery layout. Just a couple of things though:

When I click on the gallery tab, it takes me to the gallery, but the tab stays on forum.

The other thing is, although the exif data is useful, at it's current format it takes up a lot of room and clutters the page a bit in my opinion.

I agree Alan, and the fonts too large for the gallery image title

I agree with alan , the gallery front page is much better , but why so much exif data - what possible use does some of this info have ?

Re: Gallery Upgrade

And, how do you go to advanced when replying to a gallery image comment. Or should I just stick to basics .... and reply to a previous comment other than the last questions, questions

I see, no quote buttons!

Also, it would be nice to have the last posters name in the comment box under the images in the thumbnail galleries like we used to, instead of it just saying: 2 Comments etc.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Oh dear - I normally go to the What's New link and see all the new uploads in the last day. I don't see a way to do that. Did I miss something?

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Most of the above should be easy enough to sort out and we'll certainly cut down on the amount of exif data that's displayed.

If you could check your images to see that they're all yours, that would be a big help. At the moment I've had a couple of members say that they've got the wrong images associated with their username, so it looks as though the import may have gone wrong somewhere

Please let me know if you're having the same problem.

I've blocked the ability to be able to upload new pics until the old transfer is fully sorted out, which should hopefully be fairly soon.

Stu

Stuart, there are 3 of my images which are incorrect. The associated comments apply to my images but the photos are not mine. They are 4837, 9039 and 9192.

Like everything new, it takes a bit of time to get the hang. I'm sure we'll all get our heads around it eventually. Wow the picture comes up BIG...wicked! Julie

6 or 7 of the images in my gallery aren't mine, and some are missing as far as I can tell!

Oh dear Stu, hope you've got plenty of paracetamol handy!

Re: Gallery Upgrade

it seems that images are sorted within each gallery by the date of comments received (so the image with the most recent comment is first etc). I much prefer to see images in the order that there were uploaded, so more recent images are first. I have managed to do this by changing the sort preferences at the bottom of each gallery. BUT it seems this would have to be done for each gallery and these preferences are not saved, so when you leave a gallery and then return to it the images are once again sorted by the date of comments.

Has anyone found a way around this? Or do others prefer to see images sorted by the date of comments received?

Matt
