Just wait a while.. The gallery has returned to the old one for now, but with no updates for the moment.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Ok how old is this thread? as the gallery looks exactly the same to me, or are the changes really really subtle?

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Hello Dan - no it was all really really different last night and I liked it! I found it easier to get around and I could get to my own pics easier - but hey I'm new so wouldn't find the change unsettling. Folks who have been here a long time would poss be un-nerved! But for now it looks like the old one is back. . .

The original is back for now, whilst a few problems are sorted with the new one.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Why are you going crazy Beryl. If it is because you cannot upload any images, then patience is a virtue. I am sure that there is nothing so important that it cannot wait until the gallery is open for uploads again. There is no point in putting anything new into the gallery until the upgrade has been sorted.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

People need to be patient, Stuart is doing all he can to ensure the sites success, changes are needed due to how large the site and gallery have become. The current upgrade is a major one and it will take time to sort things out.

Remember the site is free and so is the time Stu is devoting to WAB.

Nothing at all to do wth patience Wildone . I have probaly got more patience than all of you put ogether and a very high tollerence rate.
I mearly meant I am crazy , all ways have been . the fact that I said we can't upload was just an extra piece of conversation.
I have got any pics at the moment to upload the weather is too bad down here. Sorry

Wise words martin, I am sure that Stu will have things sorted as soon as he can and that the site will be improved as a result (because he wouldnt be doing it otherwise)

we can live with out uploading new images for a little while, tis not the end of the world as we know it.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

I've just changed over the links to open the new gallery...again

Known issues:

* No exif data showing at the moment - We need to play around with the templates a bit

* No Photo Equipment Descriptions - We need to import it manually from the old gallery

* No 'Recent Images' at the top of the gallery - trying to find a way of only showing it on the Index page instead of every category page as well

* All images have to be moderated by the gallery editors - including the 'unidentified', 'photo critique' and 'forum' images

There's still lots to do in getting everything set up properly, but it'll definitely be worth it in the long run, especially in helping the editors to manage everything more easily.

Let me know if you find any problems/issues and please check your pics to make sure they're all yours (we had about 1-2% getting mixed up, but it's fairly easy to sort out).

Stu

I have had a look through my images and there is one wrong - 5266. It shows a crocus pic which is not mine.

Keep up the good work Stu. Upgrades are never easy. Being in the business myself, I speak from experience!

Let us know if you want us to check anything else.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

I have just uploaded some pictures, no problem. I like the new improved site, the more I use it the more I like it, but I am not sure sure about the voting on the pictures, how does this work. There seems a long way between 1-10 if you know what I mean. If I gave five stars before to a pic I would guess I put ten, but what would I put for an excellent shot. Sorry if I sound a bit thick but could someone kindly explain it to me I'm a bit confused. Thanks.
Barbara

Re: Gallery Upgrade

I don't know if theres any set guidelines for this Barbara. Personally I'd rate as before, leaving the upper ones for something really outstanding or rare.

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Well done Stu I am getting used to it quite quickly as it is the same format as the sister site.I do like it as I can roll up what I dont want to see and unroll when I do.I must admit after getting used to the newest images being at the top as soon as you went to the gallery it took me a bit to find them, having a thick moment. Its great once you are used to it and I like being able to go to member galleries without actually having to search. All thats needed is to click one it alphabeticaaly and find the one you want to look at.Now when I have nothing to do I can go through everyones gallery to comment alphabetically lol
Great work

Thumbs up Gallery Upgrade

I have uploaded a picture of a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly and it said it was awaiting approval but I'm afraid it's disappeared. Is it possible to have a look please? Apart from that I think the new look is great - you have done a good job

Re: Gallery Upgrade

Thanks Digi - will do. Also I seem to have someone else's speckled wood butterfly in my gallery (instead of my speckled wood).
