New Server

Over the past few days we've moved the site to our own dedicated server - for the techies amongst us, here's some info:

64 Bit Dual Xeon 2.8Ghz HT EMT64
4 GB DDR Registered ECC
160 GB 7200RPM Sata Primary Drive
160 GB 7200RPM Sata Secondary Drive
Remote Backup
Cpanel + WHM

It's been a long slog getting everything shifted over properly, with lots of problems and errors thrown up along the way, but we should now be 99% done. There'll probably be some more teething problems for the next couple of days, so if you spot anything that seems a bit odd, please let me know and we'll take a look at it.

Some time after answereing a post or thread the page crashes and I have to press the Back key and post it again. , only over the last 3 days or so. Could be my server but it doesn't happen on any other site.

I received an email giving me the repsonse to one of my wood ant image from Wild-woman but it doesn't appear under the image ?

Hi Beryl,

Those sort of problems apply to the old virtual server that we've just moved off. If you let me know about any problems that pop up from this morning onwards then that would be great.

I have tried to upload some images about five minutes ago and it won't let me, when I submit the image, I just get a blank page.

I think I know what's causing the blank page, so it might be a quick fix, but if not then I'll send it to the techies

I've just moved the file over from the old server so it's showing up in the thread now. There may be a few more of these missing images as it looks like some that were uploaded late last night haven't moved over properly, so if you find any more missing pics then let me know.

Hi stuart , as you must be a bit disheartened by all the bugs I thought i would tell you that mine is A Ok - well apart from the system freezes, , but i think they are down to my computer being as stable as a celebrity marriage (which is my own fault for flashing the bios and taking the overclocking to the wire).

Thanks for letting me know that it's AOK. It's hard to know what's working when I'm logging on as admin, and there are now so many pages that it's very difficult to find any problems.

Great to hear that it's well, hopefully most of the teething problems will be behind us and it should serve us well for quite some time - although at the rate that we're going we made need another server before too long

Is it me or is the new server quicker. I have noticed that it doesn't take me as long to amend titles etc. as it used. It also seems to have a different feel to it which I like. Well done Stuart and the Techies for doing a great job moving everything over.

Hi Stuart just came across a problem link.I decided to go to Birds encyclopedia to see if I can help to add more info but instead of getting a list of birds it throws me back to where I came from I got a new book today which gives more info than my other one and I thought it may come in useful
