The only reason some members have got thousands of posts is that they post on those “Hello threads”, every time a new er,victim says “Hello”, the Post Vultures fly in and say a quick “Welcome to WAB, You’ll love it here”, thus ensuring yet another notch on the ladder to WABfame.
While us quiet discerning, posters are content to linger at the bottom of the posting pile whilst engaging only in meaningful intelligent debate and friendly banter.
Besides I don’t care, I’m a Captain, so there.

Now if you're trying to upset me, let me tell you that us special infrequent posters are very choosy about the type of clientele that we converse with, we post sporadically because we only choose the most inteligent and learned threads in which to divulge our knowledge and experience so I can tell you I will in no way resort to the kind of trashy name calling and abuse that goes on in inferior threads.

Seeing as though I started all this by choosing the rankings in the first place, here's a bit of an explanation:
When I started the site I wanted everyone to have the opportunity to make a contribution to its development and be recognised for their efforts. The ranks are completely meritorious and so like everyone else I'll have to post five thousand posts before getting a knighthood
The members, officers, commanders and knights of the wild empire, are protectors of the wild empire - wildlife and the environment – so obviously there's no rank over other members etc
Having said all that, it's all just tongue-in-cheek and a bit of fun. We may lose potential members because they've taken it too seriously, but I think we'd lose many more if we became so serious ourselves.
We've certainly no plans to change it, but if any member would rather not be involved then we'd be happy to take them out of the rank system - they just need to PM me and I'll change their details.

Maybe my wind up was just my perverse idea of fun and often a little bit of a challenge to the establishment can reveal something about a web forum's attitudes.
