why have all photos been deleted ?

I uploaded 3 pictures to various galleries.

They now all appear to have been deleted with no explanation.

I added copyright text to the bottom of each - but having read the info. regarding uploading and having seen other photos with similar copyright notices, assumed it was ok ?

Be interested to know the reason so that I don't waste my time or your time in future

yes there was... the copyright was shown as www.northamptonshire..... which is a website I run - and apparently links to external websites are not allowed.

Hi Martyn

I am sorry to say that a few idiots have spoilt it for everyone.

Links are not allowed until the user has proven themselves to be genuine and not just one whom uses this site to promote their own.

Unfortunately we had a spate of members coming on and using every means at their disposal to promote their own website whilst not contributing to this one.

This included people submitting photos linked to their own, or external, sites. - If you look at post one of the 'help me' post you will see why this may be a problem.

Furthermore rules had to be put in place so that members 'earnt' the right to post links to external sites. This was to stop people abusing the system.

I am sure you are not gulity of this but thems the rules and its just a shame that, as I said, a few have spoilt it for others

well I can inderstand that.... but having had photos 'pinched' in the past... and knowing that commercial firms do it more than they would care to admit, I was reluctant to add pics to the gallery - particularly in view of the requirement that the images are so large.

oh well.... I guess I'll just admire other peoples work for now!

Hi Martyn,

You could just put your username (or other name) on the photos if you wish to protect them? I'm afraid the use of an external website as a watermark looks too much like an advert and that falls foul of WAB's rules.

After some investigation I may have the answer. And this is purely my opinion.

Your photos seemed to be branded in such a way as to bring visitors to your site.

WAB has to maintain a standard of quality to which it applies to all images, and this is at the discretion of the moderators and editors. Many of your pictures are, in my opinion, obscured by your branding.

The moderator has the right to filter images of subjects that they believe may be better represented already within the galleries. So, in the example of your dragonfly image, should the editor or moderator feel that this insect is already represented within the galleries by an image without an advertisement emblazoned across the image, he / she may decide not to include it.

I think that is fair enough

I may not be correct as am not a MOD but thats how I see it.
