I know I might sound harsh, but surely that's what the gallery is for Again, I'm not having a go at anyone, but it seems a bit odd...
Am I being silly or is it a reasonable point?
May I reiterate once more that I do appreciate people's images, of course I do, but do they need a thread to themselves with little or no text?
EDIT; If people are doing this to have their photo analysed, praised etc, should it not go in the Photography critique section? | |

This thread defies belief...how else would the thread read, when someone is named and singled out like this. No one apart from the admin team has the right to dictate where and how someone should post pics provided its within the site rules. There are plenty of rules on the site to start with (which isnt a problem for me btw) without members dictating too (which is how this thread reads).
I hope Doxhope continues to post his pics, wherever he chooses. Instead of nitpicking, we should just appreciate that members take the time to share their work, and enjoy the pics wherever theyre posted.

I hope its moved, not just closed, as anyone new reading this, thinking of posting pics for the first time will probably be worried whether theyre posting them in the right place, and wary of similar treatment

Cheers people..Sorry if I have been putting any pictures in the wrong section, honest mistake, on other sites Im involved with they dont have a seperate gallery, and all photos are added to the forum section, for commnets etc
| Theres no rules as to where pics should go to my knowledge Quote: |
I have only been in photography a short time, and I honestly feel although my images are decent, they are not up to the standard required for the gallery.
| Your images are top notch & i love seeing them, there definitely gallery worthy, but it's your choice weather u put them there or not. Quote: |
I am associated with a local camera club and at present I am way down in the pecking order of wildlife photoraphers there.
| Get them to join WAB if your "way down in the pecking order" they must be something special Quote:
I have submitted images to the gallery on here, and they were rejected, so I though the forum was the best place to put them.
I thought others were asking me to put my images in the gallery because they thought they were worthy, I didnt realise they were try to tell me they shouldnt have been in the forum...pity it wasnt explianed a bit better.
| As mentioned there are no rules (i think) about posting pics on the forum & the reason they were rejected must have been to do with information & not quality of pic (yours are good enough as mentioned before) Quote: |
So panic over, I will not submit any other images to the forum
| As Nick said KEEP posting your pics because we enjoy seeing them
Lots of people have been posting pics in the forum for people to look at MYSELF included & so don't feel this thread is aimed at you personally |

Sorry doxy for naming you. | There was no way the thread was meant to get at one person. It was just an observation and Nick did not mean for it to get out of hand.I actually don't think it has got out of hand as there have been many positive comments which will hopefully have been some help to Doxy and to others. We all just want Doxy to feel his photos are worthy of posting to the gallery. So come on Doxy get posting |

| | | Re: A new trend? In defence of some of the rules, Bubbless has pointed out why the images I submitted to the gallery could have been rejected, so it was probably my fault in the first place for not reading the rules properly. But again I thought the forum to be the place for those images not so good that they werent acepted into the gallery.
Yes deerboy, the best Ive done in all competitions last year was 1 highly commended, we have some great wildlife photographers in our club, and their work is something to aim at, as are a lot of the images on here, in the gallery.

I know Nick never meant it in the way it has bee interpreted..Yes many comments have helped 'I wouldnt say its a new 'trend' as such as its only DOXHOPE who does this'
I was probably the main offender, but not as Dan stated in the quote above, the only one..so now everyone can hopefully post properly in future
I know I will.
Since Ive been involved with WAB, Ive had external pictures removed, nest pictures removed and been posting pictures in the wrong place..One day I will get it right, ha, ha, ha

so stop beating yourself up about it you were not in the wrong we want to see you with a gallery full of images.
So there |

| | | Re: A new trend? Oh god what a mess this all is and it seems its all my fault...in my defence i honestly had only ever noticed DOX doing the act mentioned...and although naming him, i also defended him by stating (correctly it seems) that it is probably just a misunderstanding on his part?...and i also stated that i really enjoy his photos, so i hope there are no hard feelings...
And to stick my neck on the line even more...im a firm believer of honest opinion, and i think most but not ALL of his recent pics are gallery worthy...there have been a few duds which he openly admits to himself (the cormorant shots and the recent Rabbit im not keen on)....so nerrrr to you all!
and personally i think the gallery is polluted these days by non gallery worthy shots...we should really keep it real and tighten up on it, i have said this before and probably got slated for it but i think the gallery really should only be for something special..saleable/magazine/gallery/calender and above all photographically perfect shots....(or there abouts)..thank god im not a gallery mod otherwise i would have even less friends on here than my pitiful few ! ha ha.....
anyway....tennis was good wasnt it!

We haven't all got fancy cameras or the same skills. I think the rules with images are pretty fair and if tightened up too much then some of us would never post |

I think getting a picture into the gallery should be something for a photographer to work towards, honing skills, perfecting technique, composure, depth of field etc until you reach gallery quality...rather than getting your first efforts whacked straight in there and losing that push to improve because you are 'already' gallery quality in someones book (but probably not mine ha ha)...I currently have rubbish gear, not even a digital SLR and no BIGMA hence i have no gallery shots (apart from my lucky nuthatch shot)....im currently working on my poor macro technique with the gear i do have with the aim of maybe getting a shot or two in the gallery again...

No hard feelings from me matie..got a better shag head study that I know you will like better..the Rabbit, well, I was trying to photograph flying swallows, saw the Rabbit sitting in the shade, never had time to adjust settings on camera, just snapped it..yuck I agree..was going to try it in the gallery,
Tennis...work awaits me, people with learning disabilities who look to me as being something a bit special in their lives, worth a kings ransom and who think my pictures are greattttt, even the Rabbit one, ha, ha, ha
