quoting part of a post

When replying to a post, how do you just quote part of the post to which you wish to reply?

I just press 'quote' and delete the bits I don't want to quote making sure I leave both bits in the within the [quote] brackets

Re: quoting part of a post

Just highlight the text you don't want by left click and hold and drag left or right to highlight in blue the text you don't want - press backspace to delete it. Well that's what I do

Re: quoting part of a post

I just edit out the bits of the quote that aren't relevant (as described by agrumpycow), but I always replace them with '...' to show that I'm only quoting part of the original post. But that's just me!

Re: quoting part of a post

I've never really understood how any of this computer thing works, especially the Internet bit. So I just select the text I want to use by dragging the pointer then copy and paste. Afterwards I change the text if required; ie italic.

A long time ago I was a printer, when small litho printing machines were 'cutting edge' technology that was replacing letterpress. I still tend to think of cut & paste as using a pair of scissors and a pot of glue.

Photo editing is OK but I always struggled with Microsoft text editing programmes until I found a desktop publishing programme which worked the same way as me.

Re: quoting part of a post

I suppose IT is flexible enough to accommodate personal styles. My technical knowledge is zero, but I usually get there in the end just through sheer doggedness.
