| | | Easy way to catch up on unread postings? Is there an easy way to catch up on unread postings?
At present I look in turn at each forum that interests me and then check to see if the threads of interest are in bold lettering which indicates that there has been a post since I last logged on (I have not yet worked out what happens if a new post is left whilst logged on). That seems to take ages.
I tried the Mozilla Firefox browser as that, like the latest version of Internet Explorer, allows many web pages to be opened up at once. Having Bookmarked the forums of interest it is straight forward and quite quick to open all the recent threads at once but it is not easy to spot which of those threads have new posts.
I then tried using the RSS feed with Google Reader but that cannot be told to look at specific forums. for instance. it will monitor all "Wildlife and Environment Forums" including those that I wish to ignore. Also, it only lists thread headings so I am no better off when trying to spot the posts I have not read.
I guess another way is to subscribe to each interesting thread and request immediate emails?
Or is there is another way catch up on unread postings please?
Thanks |

I don't think it helps with threads you are interested in but haven't posted on, though. |

And thanks to Pete but you are right in saying "I don't think it helps with threads you are interested in but haven't posted on, though"

I tend to do as Kayleigh (click on the 'new posts' tab at the top of the page) but before that I go to the main forum page at double click on the tabs for the forums I'm not so interested in (astronomy & bushcraft mainly for me); it marks them as read and stops them coming up in the list of new posts.

Can't think why I missed it earlier! Double clicking to mark forums as read is a good idea.

Richard | If you go on a thread and do not post on it. You can subscribe to it. Then it will appear in "your posts" |

There have been a few threads that although I don't want to post on I would like to know the outcome.

I must admit, I usually only have time to browse a few forums that are of particular interest to me. Some days, I don't even manage that and just scan the threads I've subscribed to. This will help me track threads I'm particularly interested in but haven't posted on. |

As far as I can gather (and I can be a wee bit dim at times!) just go into the main page of the forum you want eg. insects and click on forum tools at the top and subscribe!!

As suggested previously I have subscribed to the forums I like to read (rather than subscribe to individal threads) but unfortunately it seems that new threads are not actually being listed in my 'Your Posts'. No matter, I have decided to use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer to open up threads in tabs.

That is much much quicker, but of course one does come to some discussion a bit late. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
