Re: Trackback

I assume you mean within the context of the WAB site. Without going into technical detail if you have trackback switched on you can receive email notifications of updates to threads you have subscribed to etc. Another example is when uploading images to the gallery you can select the option to receive email notification if someone leaves a comment.

Trackback enables authors to keep track of who is linking, and so referring, to their articles.

Re: Trackback

And is it something that one elects to switch on, on one's computer, Gerry, or something to be chosen in a particular circumstance?

Whilst in forums you will see a mouse icon (control) at top left of page under the Home tab, click on this and it will bring up your user details etc. Click on edit options (top left) and then you can change the options for messaging and notification etc.
Probably an easier way to get there but it works for me which is what counts.

Gerry

Re: Trackback

Oo, thank you both. I'd never noticed that before.

Re: Trackback

I'm not sure if trackback is what I have, but what happens is that for every thread that I comment on and someone else comments after me then you receive an email informing you of this from WAB. It's a good way of keeping track but my god you do get loads of emails

you can deactivate that if you want in the user control panel - but deactivation isnt retrospective so you will continue to get emails for threads you have previously subscribed too ( I had to deactivate mine because i was getting swamped)
