| | | Re: New Links Section It would seem that despite the message my website link is now on the WAB Link page.
Maybe those having the same problem should check.
Unless Stuart as done something

| | | Re: New Links Section I think the problem lies in how my link on my index page is expressed in my html code. "<a href="http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/"><img src="icons/wild_about_britain_grass.jpg" alt="Wild About Britain" width="400" height="60" ></a>"
Whereas, the code given to use in the "link To Us" is "<a href="http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk"><img src="http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/links/banners/wildaboutbritain50.jpg" width="430" height="100" alt="British Wildlife Forums" border="0" /></a>"
Surely by using "src="http://www.etcetc/eg.jpg" " we will be "hotlinking" to WAB and won't that use some of WABs bandwidth (aka data transfer) ?

| | | Re: New Links Section I've changed the setup so that links aren't checked by the software, but done manually instead. It should now make it easier/possible to submit your websites, but it'll take a little longer to process as we'll be checking the links using My Human Brain v1.0 |

you might have an issue as your site is (or at least will be) at least semi comercial (ie you are selling your photos)
this is why i haven't put a link to mine as i am both selling prints and selling my photographic services (plus possibly running courses if i can get the insurance sorted) - of course another reason is that mine is down for a redesign and rehost (another thing to sort out on the million and one thing long to do list)
Actually if stu or any moddy folk are out there reading this , do you suppose i can get a dispensation to link mine(when its up again) to a thread so i can offer those free photo advice sheets for download rather than having to email about a thousand wab members, i can give you a solemn promise that i wont advertise any of my services on the download page.

A bit frustrating | as it stands i doubt that you would have a problem ( i mentioned it because we were talking about embedable ecommerce facilities the other day which probably do cross the line)
my site on the other hand will definitely faul foul of the no comercial activity rule as commercial activity is (will be) its raison d'etre (hence my request for a papal {or stu-pal } dispensation to allow for advice sheet hosting)
i would suspect that your slowness of link arival is simply down to admin having time to get round to it - running a site this size effectively and holding down a full time job must take super human effort from the stu meister so its not suprising the ocasional thing slips through the cracks

| | | Re: WAB Link Exchange Hi Stuart
I've just tried the linkback you put in your message and it went straight to my site and to the WAB banner (ooops lol).
This is what I've done so far to insert a link from WAB to my site:
Inserted WAB banner on my profile page and on a "links" page;
returned to WAB, clicked on "links";
clicked on "submit link";
typed in URL "http://www.freewebs.com/spiritsfree2;
entered category "general wildlife...";
clicked "continue";
system says "verifying url...";
then I get "database error message".
I'm not sure how else I can add the links as I cannot find any other way of adding a link.
This link was inserted from the "message box" and not sure if that will work either. http://www.freewebs.com/spiritsfree2
All help and suggestions gratefully received. Thank you.
Christina
