Upload size of unidentified images?

Could someone tell me if the upload size (pixels) of images in the Unidentified section has been changed?

There didn't used to be a minimum size but I'm trying to upload to there at the moment and its rejecting them as not being of the right size......Is this a temporary glitch or a permanent change?

5 minutes later, increased image to 804 pixels wide and its still saying its too small

i dont think there is a maximum size in the unidentified or forum gallery - but i think they need to be at least 800 pix wide

Re: Upload size of unidentified images?

No maximum, but a minimum of 800 wide x 600 high. If your doing a portrait shot, again the width has to be a minimum of 800 wide.

Re: Upload size of unidentified images?

Hi eeyore and graham - thats my point! There didn't use to be a minimum pixel width for Unidentified!

I've previously uploaded images to the Unidentified section with no problem at all that were less than 800 px wide......but now its rejecting them....

Because of the problems we were having transfering images that had been identified it looks as if Admin have altered the settings of Unidentified images to match those of the main gallery. I think you should find that forum images are still without a size constraint.

I have also had this problem a few times this week and ended up putting the photo's in forum images no problem.

Sorry wildone, I was a bit slow with typing and didn't see your answer!

Re: Upload size of unidentified images?

Ah, ok that would make sense. Did the size change get posted somewhere that I missed?

Re: Upload size of unidentified images?

I've been playing around a bit with the sizes across the gallery images as there seems to be a fair amount of just dropping images into the forum and unidentified sections without much of and attempt to title, resize etc.

As a result, the unidentified gallery has had the minimum size put in place as it's possible that, once identified, they'll be moved to the main gallery, but would need to be large enough to go in (i.e. 800x600)

The forum images no longer stores the original sized photo - so while you can upload them at any size, the gallery will reduce them to max 880 wide (and I'm thinking of making that even smaller as they only need to be about 600 wide to view in the forum)

I'm planning on taking the forum and unidentified links out of the main gallery page and putting them somewhere else on the site, so new visitors don't see them, but members can still get them when they need to.

We're also looking at adding image upload counts to member post counts so each upload will equal a forum post, but uploads to forum images and unidentified images won't be included in the scoring.

Hello Stuart, is this then the answer then to a query I posted last week?

Gallery submissions on profile page

If so, can I ask why the images from the Great Oudoor Gallery doesn't show in my submissions?
Thanks, Shirley

Re: Upload size of unidentified images?

Hi. I've just been trying to upload some pictures to the forum images for ID, and it won't let me.
They are really big crops so are only about 600px wide. Does the size limit apply to forum pics as well now?

I am a bit confused here Stu.I always thought that our photos in the gallery were counted.I know you took away the count for comments in the gallery but not the photos
