| | | quick view of last post Hi there
I wasn't really sure what to call this thread and I don't think it is particularly clear what it means, but whatever.
First of all I just want to say thanks to everyone involved in getting this site up, it's terrific, a really valuable resource. Last night a plant I had failed to ID after several fruitless hours searching was pinned down within a few minutes by WABers. Fantastic.
Anyway, to the point of this thread -
It is really useful that hovering the cursor over the title of a thread brings up a little box with the first few lines of the post in it - this saves a lot of time as I can check that and see if it is a thread I want to become involved with or not.
Once a thread is up and running, it can go off in unexpected ways, and there is no way of knowing if it is a thread I am still interested in, or conversely if a thread I wasn't bothered about becomes interesting, without opening the thread and seeing what is going on. This can be quite time consuming, so I don't bother a lot of the time.
I have come back to one or two threads I gave up following and found that there was stuff I was interested in again. I have also dipped in to well established treads for the first time after deciding that I wasn't interested, only to find that it was a good debate going on.
My suggestion/question is this
Would it be possible for a similar summary to the one that comes up for the first post by hovering over the thread title, for a similar summary to come up if I hover over the "Go to last post" button?
I don't know anything about the technical side, if it is possible, or if it would take too long to do, but in my view, this would add a lot to the user-friendliness of the site, save a lot of time for users and also maybe mean that users get involved in more threads that are relevant to them that they might be missing at the moment.
Can I just make it clear that this is in no way a criticism of what there already is here, which as I say, I think is excellent. Thanks again to all the hardwork that has gone into making this site what it is.
Cheers
Sven
