Wild About Britain Needs Volunteers!
Please join one of the WAB development groups to help us focus on developing specific areas of the website.
To Join:
Simply click on the 'User CP' link at the top of the forum and select 'Group Memberships' in the menu and click on the 'join' button that's next to each group, then save your choice at the bottom of the page.
Why join?
By volunteering to join a group(s), we will have a better idea about who can help us work on a variety of projects on the website - i.e. mammals, insects, birds etc. Obviously, by joining a group you won't be signing your life away, as all of the projects will be voluntary, but it will enable us to keep you informed about the various development projects.
Essentially, the projects will include areas of development like:
- Finding and adding events to the calendar – either directly adding the details, or encouraging other external organisations to submit their info.
- Developing forum activity - adding lots of threads, encouraging coversations, promoting it outside WAB etc
- Developing the Gallery - adding more images, naming the unamed images, promoting it outside WAB etc.
- Adding news to the newspaper – by visiting a short list of websites each day that issue press releases (usually other charities, government organisations etc), then copying the press release into a quick form on our site.
- Developing the directory - encouraging relevant UK groups to add their details to the directory, occasionally check details etc
- Finding and adding reciprocal links to our link pages – building up a long list of relevant websites from around the world that can link to us, so we can link to them.
- Writing entries in the reference section – adding info about species in the A-Zs, finding related jokes, superstitions, quotations, buying guides etc.
- Recruit other members, visitors and people outside WAB to also help out.
And, of course, we'd like to hear about any other ideas that you've got that could help to make Wild About Britain even better.
By joining a group, you'll be given access to the group's own forum, so that you can easily work with other members on any of the various projects, and, of course, we'll always be here to help get you started and deal with any technical issues.
So please visit the Group Membership page in your control panel, check the relevant boxes, join one or more groups, and help to develop Wild About Britain to become even better.
Thanks
Stuart
