Wildlife Calendar

We've now added the 'events calendar' section to the site to help promote wildlife and environment events across the UK.

This section will include details on organised walks, workshops, charity fundraisers, volunteer weekends etc and you can add details of events in your area simply by clicking on the 'add event' link and filling in the simple form.

Let us know if you have any problems or ideas for the calendars and we'll work on integrating your suggestions as we continue to develop this section of the site over the next few weeks.

Wildlife Calendar

Hi Stuart,

A nice facility for users.

An "edit" facility for registered users would be useful, having just added an event and noticed a typo !
Facility for the poster (or WAB admin) of an event to be able to delete the event, Eg. event is cancelled or rescheduled.
Will / can it be set up so that user could elect to recieve notification of future events ?.

Wildlife Calendars

Hi Mike,

The edit and subscribe features are virtually in place and so you should be able to make changes to your own events and get info updates etc by the end of next week.

Cheers

Stuart

Wildlife Events

Stuart, Hi,

I'm trying to get our event on again but am getting the following error -

Database: Resource id #3
The query: INSERT INTO bd_events VALUES(NULL,2,0,'Mike Hatch','mike@brickfieldspark.org','Fur & Feathers Fun Day','','','','','Brickfields Park','Aldershot Hampshire',1,7,0,,,,,0,'','','')
The result: You have an error in your SQL syntax near ',,,0,'','','')' at line 1

What's up ?

Mike

Hi Mike,

We've been having a few problems trying to link the forum events with our main events section.

Looks as though we'll drop the integration and just go with the main events, so if you could submit the details via the 'add event' link on this page

http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/events/calendar.php it should hopefully work OK.

Cheers

Stuart

Stuart,

That's the link that I am having problems with.
Have tried it in Firefox and IE, with and without firewalls and proxies, same problem each time.

Mike.

Hi Mike,

The events calendar should hopefully be working again now, so you'll be able to post your event details again.

We're also going to put a small half-banner ad box in the blank part of the logo bar at the top of the screen, to help promote different areas of the site to new visitors. We've currently no intention of using it to sell external advertising etc, but I'd be happy to include a banner for your event, seeing as though you've helped us out in the past with many contributions to gallery etc.

If you'd like to build a graphic with the dimensions of 234 x 60, then I'll include it in the ad loop when the system is up and running (hopefully by next Monday)

Re: Wildlife Calendar

How do you go about adding an event to the calendar?

Re: Wildlife Calendar

Me too Pauline, I've asked the question a number of times in relation to fungi forays but got no response.

Re: Wildlife Calendar

Just a small point: There are sub-calendars for most regions, but you're missing East Anglia!

Re: Wildlife Calendar

It would be nice to have a small section on the calender to indecate what wildlife you would expect see at that time of the year. But I suppose it would take up too much room.
