Uploading Gallery Images Plea

Hello all

There are still many images been uploaded to the Galleries that are the wrong size and poorly labelled.

This has major time implications on Moderators and Gallery Editors. Can I please ask everyone to double check before uploading images to the galleries.

Gallery Guidelines before Uploading you Images:

Images should be less than 500Kb, between 800 x 600 and 1280 x 1024, of good quality, in focus, clear and without large copyright or advertisements, elaborate borders, over-editing or noticeable compression.

Where possible, please enter the species title as 'Common Name - Scientific Name'. If you are unsure of the scientific name, a search of the destination gallery using the common name will normally provide this.

Please do not upload more than three significantly different images of the same subject and no more than ten images per day.

I didnt realise it was physically possible to upload mis-sized pics to the gallery (except for the unmoderated ones) , i always thought that the software rejected such uploads automatically - if it doesnt perhaps we ought to look at finding a way to make it do so ?

Not quite that simple unfortunately Pete,

Image File size is relatively easy to control. However image (picture) size requires EXIF control algorithms and not all images contain this data to work with

The ideal method is to stick to the size rules

It shouldn't be Pete, but the software isn't working correctly. It's supposed to block any over or under sized, but it isn't working at the moment, so we moderators are having to deal with it until it's fixed.
It's been shocking lately how many are way out. Today alone I've had to reject over a dozen, and no doubt the other have similar or even larger amounts.
Users are simply ignoring or not bothering to read the guidelines.

why am i not suprised -tho to be fair perhaps some people dont know how to resize images or dont have the software perhaps we should include links to the download pages for picasa, irfanview and GIMP in the how to sticky ?
