| | | Do you share? Just looking at the 'Moving so fast' thread. Seems people are very territorial over sites. I often wander if when someone finds a site they really like they do, or don't, share it with friends |

| | | Re: Do you share? I like this site I have tried others but most have a very narrow focus, I love the generality, with a good sprinkling of experts
I recommend the site to anyone interested in wildlife who can think for themselves or are kind and considerate in their dealings with others(I make no pretence of fitting into any of these catagories!)

| | | Re: Do you share? The reason I ask is whether people regard it as a place to share their thoughts totally anonymously. I, for example, would have certain reservations about letting certain individuals know of my activities on here because some of the content is 'private' to me, despite sharing it with countless other members and the general public. Does that make sense? |

| | | Re: Do you share? Makes sense to me Boddie. One of the reasons for having a user name is that we can be anonymous when sharing our private thoughts etc. Bye the bye have voted.

| | | Re: Do you share? Soon after I joined I let a friend of mine know about this site as she's new to bird watching and I thought you could all help her as you are helping me. However I've not told her my user name nor has she told me her's!
It is odd how most of us feel that we want this just to be a site for 'us' and not want to share but in another way do! It's such a good site and with so many friendly helpers and intresting forums that you want to tell people but then you feel that maybe if all your friends join you may not have such a varied set of remarks-forums. I hope I've not upset anyone, just trying to explain ,badly, my feelings on this subject.
I've voted, I hope you get the responce that you want and that other people vote. |

| | | Re: Do you share? Everyone I know or meet I tell about this site. I know of at least 4 that have joined on my recommendation but there maybe other hiding under user names I don't know.
I have no fear of anyone knowing my name as anything I post I am happy to state out in the field.
I am always happy to project any forum I am comfortable with myself and I am certainly more than happy with WAB. I will continue to promote this site to anyone that will listen.

| | | Re: Do you share? Yes, because it is a site with a nice relaxed atmosphere (except that some threads do get a bit acrimonious, but guess that there is no harm in showing strong feelings if it can be done politely) and lots of knowledgable people.
On the contrary I also warn people off any other site where there have been problems, though only after sharing with other migrants to check own impression.

| | | Re: Do you share? I've recommended this site to loads of people and even helped at least four register, although I still haven't seen any of them post an image or take part in any forums yet... The main problem is that most of them are not too familiar with computers and the internet, it's very new to them. I know they look, but thats about it! |

He has visited the site (yesterday). He was a little disappointed that he could not see the gallery photos at full size, but then he hasn't joined yet. He is stalling as he feels he will be obliged to post on the forums, which makes him uncomfortable! He is not used to talking, by computer, to others.......I'm still working on him!

Neil | Reassure your Father that there is no pressure to post on the forums, but most people find that at sometime they want to express their opinion about a thread. That is the time to join in. I think I was first a member for a good few weeks before I made my first post on the forum. Now look what's happened, they cannot keep me off.
Incidently, it is a well known fact that the over 60's are the greatest users of home computers and surf the net as if they were born to it. I think it is because with increasing lack of mobility it is a way of keeping in touch with like minded people.

| | | Re: Do you share? I recomended this site to my wife who has joined. I would recomend it to close friends whom I am comfortable discussing wildlife matters with. I myself am what I would call an open type of person who doesn't mind giving information about myself to others, wheras my wife is much more of a private person. However I can say that we both enjoy the site very much, and though not as active on the site as I am, mainly through lack of time my wife does post occasionally. Sorry if this seems to have gone off subject a little, I do tend to ramble when I get going.

Have recommended site to others at work, and also at photo-pic - and have now seen a few familiar names! |
