| | | Fantastic News - Take a Bow! We've just had the most fantastic email from the WWF to say that Wild About Britain has been shortlisted in the 'Best Environmental Website' category for the British Environmental Media Awards 2006! http://www.bemas.org.uk/
As a community-driven website I hope you all feel as proud as I do that you're being recognised for your outstanding contribution to the environment. You should all be a few inches taller and justifiably proud to let everyone know that you've helped build the website that's a finalist for the BEMAs.
The winner will be announced in London on the 22nd of March, but with such strong competition to just get this far, I think we can all celebrate having made it to the finals as a massive acheivement in itself. Needless to say, we're absolutely over the moon and want to thank everyone for their enormous efforts in getting us to the short-list.
Congratulations and thank you very, very much.
Stu
P.S. Did I mention that I'm over the moon? |

22nd.
And a big thankyou from me too, to everyone else who contributes, and who make this charity website such a success. Onwards and upwards!!! |

| | Everybody deserves a massive pat on the back for all their individual efforts. This site has turned into a fantastic community through contributors that have recognised its unique style, and friendly approach, to a plethora of subjects close to all of our hearts.
The name says it all. You're all Wild About Britain. From stunning photography, considered debate, wise words, welcoming advice and the odd joke here and there I have witnessed this site evolve into a 'right nice place' to sit down with a mug of coffee and chat and learn, with other like minded individuals.
For me, appreciation of my surroundings and the knowledge I have gained from the site is immeasurable. I spent a lot of time on here last year when 'in between jobs', and the site kept me sane. Having time on my hands and the chance to share my experiences with others meant I got out far more often and studied things in greater detail, posting my findings, on the site, and then being educated on the species etc I had encountered by the sites many contributors.
I am now working full time again but am still 'getting in' 6 miles by foot a day and will be back out on the bike when the weather improves.
Those of you that have followed my progress know how you helped me become more proficient in photography and with a better eye for my surroundings.
Some of you even helped me with my exams last year with the acrostic competitions I set up.
Little do all of you know just how much you have helped me over the past year and again, I applaud everybody's efforts. |

You reep what you sow and to Stuart and his helpers a big thank you for working so hard on this website. You fully deserve the accolades that have already been bestowed upon you. Wouldn't it be great if even higher accolades were to come your way.
Congrats to not only the backroom staff but all contributing members that have also put in their time to make the forum an interesting, and relaxing, place to be.

Your photos have helped somewhat, which is the point I was trying to make earlier. As well as the back office staff, it's great that it's everyone that has made the site work. All the moderators, gallery editors, techies etc are completely unpaid - it's a great collaboration of volunteers and members joining to help out wherever they can. I can't think of anywhere else quite like it, and certainly none that do it so well |

| | | Re: Fantastic News - Take a Bow! I only discovered this site recently, but I also think it is excellent. To someone such as myself who has always been interested in natural history and photography the site is ideal. All those involved deserve a pat on the back and it's no surprise to me that the site is being considered for awards.
