avatar options

Hi there
I think this might have been covered before, but can't find the thread it is in, so apologies for duplication if it has been dealt with previously

I am a bit bored of my avatar and thinking of changing it. I have a little gif that amuses me and just tried to upload it but was told I can't do it as it is animated.

There are a few of you out there with moving avatars - what am i doing wrong?

As far as I know gif avatars were banned as some of them got out of hand.

Chances are that those that have them had them before the ban. So its just down to timing

I'm aware of this reason too, there was a thread a few months ago, which I can't find at the moment, but I'll keep looking.
