Perhaps it's a good job that I accidentally deleted the IMAGES ONLY thread (although apologies to Richardkm )

Perhaps one of you moderator type people would like to restate the "rules" so that everbody is clear - I would do it myself but I just know someone will argue if I do it

If we're not accepting submissions until August do we need to re-state the submission rules? I say we just agree to leave the submission until August at which time we will clearly state the submission guidelines.

| | | Re: WAB 2008 Calendar Discussions I also agree fully with what Steve suggests. We just have to ensure we try and cover as many subject areas as possible.
My only other suggestion is what I mentioned in an earlier thread i.e. a very brief description ... This is a common suggestion by people who visit my office .. and can't leave until they pass comment on the calendar |

Matt | In which case it may be better not to start the 'images only' thread just yet! just a thought |

Matt | good point - it might be an idea to reiterate what we are looking for though, as if people are to use the time to harvest their best shots effectively they need to know what we want - I know both you and bod touched on this earlier but it is all a bit buried back in the thread.
to whit:
Shots need to be a minimum of 4mp , and be well exposed, and correctly focused
all shots need to be in landscape format
We need shots representative of all times of year not just summer
and we need shots of a vareity of subjects (basically anything that is appropriate to WAB)
above all remember this is for a calendar so we need the sort of shots that people want to have on their wall ( I know this is subjective) thus we are looking for shots that have impact or visual appeal beyond being just record shots

Matt | I think we should still have some guidelines laid down though.
Just so as people know what to do.
i.e size, orienation, subject etc |

i.e size, orienation, subject etc | OK, shall I do it in a new thread? It seems a bit strange starting a new thread if we're not accepting images yet. But it will no doubt get buried if I just do it in this thread... |

Here are the other 3

See it was a hassle doing it with just his 3.
Imagine 50 members wanting to change theirs every three months |

Personally I would delete this thread, or at least close it
Start a new one with the rules. Tell everyone the rules are final are there for a reason and not open to debate.
I dont have a problem with people submitting earlier than August - they just need to be aware that their 3 is final. |

edit: or do what boddie said (not arguing with you mate - I think we posted at the same time ) or what FJ said He hadnt posted when I started writing either , arrrghhh - just ignore me I'm confusing myself now

Jenny | hopefully we will be able to produce a larger calendar this year.
I have now added an IMAGES ONLY thread which is closed, but which provides the rules. Please can someone let me know if I've missed anything out or if anything is not as clear as it should be

| | | Re: WAB 2008 Calendar Discussions I think that poetry is a good thing for a calendar and as Gill says quote poetry is very subjective not everyone enjoys the same kind of poetry. Un quote
It might be an idea to have one short poem with regard for each season. Then you would only have to put in 4 poems and as it is a Wildlife calendar and not a comic book then the poetry must be about Wildlife and strictly to th point and the season.
Hope all that makes sense |

| | | Re: WAB 2008 Calendar Discussions My only criticism is the "landscape only" rule. Many images do not lend themselves to landscape format, take my "red kite feeding on the wing" for example. If you're thinking of using more than one image on a page, then a mixture of landscape and portrait will look more interesting than just landscape.
Worth thinking about?
