| | | Carpet Sea Squirt - an invader from Japan Saw this on the BBC website BBC News - Kent's marine life 'threatened by Carpet Sea Squirt'
The story is focused on Kent, but this species is spread easily and is spreading fast. It has turned up at various sites around the UK - Devon to Scotland.
Dr David Donnan, from Scottish Natural Heritage said: "The carpet sea squirt can reproduce and spread rapidly and tends to smother other marine life that grows on the seabed.
"It has spread around the world although it is thought to have originally come from Japan.
Another alien species to be on the look out for.
