I bought some elodea crispa, along with some other pond plants back in August... I put a few strands of the elodea in my aquarium, which only contained one large ramshorn snail (the two goldfish were getting too big for the tank, and were happily re-homed in a neighbour's pond with his koi).
A few days ago, I found these two new occupants in the fish tank- I am guessing they came in with the elodea, and I've got two queries... does anyone know what they are, and would it be safe to put them in my pond?
Presumably, there may have been more on the other bunches of elodea that went into the pond anyway, (although I've not seen any- might the frogs eat them?) and I certainly don't want to put anything out that might be an invasive.
I thought it might be best to find out what they are before I have to decide what to do with them. They are very active, (move quickly for snails) their shells are nearly transparent, and they have small stubby 'horns' rather than long antennae like the ramshorn snail does.
I hope the photos are good enough- macro-flash, unfortunately.
