I'm in West Midlands - Nearest place to see leaping Salmon?

Hey Everyone

I live in the West Midlands (west of Birmingham) and I would like to go and see if I can film some leaping salmon. Where would be the nearest place to go? Somebody recommended I go to Gilfach Farm - I visited earlier in the year and it was only a couple of hours away ....

How about the River Severn (it's very near to me) - is there anywhere on there that I could check out?

Any other locations suggested, would be appreciated

Diglis Weir, Worcester?

Looked on google but there doesn't seem to be much to go on regarding that site.

It would be god to see them - where is the wier in Worcester? Not heard of any salmon in the river at Bewdley.

I don’t know if Diglis Weir has a fish pass. If it has, it might prove counterproductive to seeing Salmon in the air.

However, a post in the maggotdrowners forum is encouraging…”Last November at Diglis weir there wasn't a moment when there wasn't at least one salmon leaping. I caught a 10lb'er accidentally on groundbait feeder with double red maggot!”

Give your local EA Fisheries office a ring on 01278 484785 to get some local info., ask to speak to a Fisheries Officer.

Diglis Weir is at SO 846535 and looking at it on the map I would image the west bank at the highest point would be the place to stand and watch.

If they get past Diglis, they’ll swim past Bewdley!
