| | Do I tell him its a pike A friend of mine who has got big pond full of goldfish and other fish juts sent me a pic by email he wanted to know what type of fish this is,
I know what it is the thing he says he likes the look of it and wants to leave it in his pond now that would be interesting
what I would like to know hows it got there he Has not added any thing plant wise to pond and would not put plants from wild in his pond any way.
And would I be ok to put it in my local lake it dos have pike in it already.
Thanks MIKE |

I suppose there are many ways it could have arrived. Dropped in by kids, a bird etc or as an egg on waterbirds feet (though I've always thought this was more old wives tale than anything). I would tell him what it is and what it's capable of doing to his goldfish as it grows then let him make up his mind, you never know
I don't see it being a problem putting it your local lake. There's always the risk of spreading disease but just think how often waterbirds move from one body of water to another and the aquatic inhabitants seem to fare ok. |

| | | Re: Do I tell him its a pike Told him what it is he says it can stay over winter but as soon as shows any intrest in his fish I can get rid, he says its feeding on flys and other insects that land on the water at the moment and said was watching it and surpised at the fact it had no problems with a bigish moth.
